Application And Interpretation Of Public Health Data

In the past weeks, we have covered Descriptive Statistics, Correlation, Chi-Square, T-test and ANOVA. There are several more tests that are beyond the scope of this course, but I hope that you have gained a basic understanding of how to choose and conduct the appropriate test for your analysis. This resource from the UCLA Institute for Digital Research and Education, helps you to choose the appropriate test based on number of Independent and Dependent Variables, and the type of variables. In addition, it provides tutorials for how to conduct these tests in various statistical analysis software packages.

In regard to the tests we have covered, how well do you understand each? For each of the research questions below, respond and state which test should be used!

  • What is the average age of participants in this study?
  • Did participants knowledge of increase after participating in the study?
  • What is the relationship between number of days exercised per week and cardiovascular disease?
  • What percent of participants are male?
  • Following participation in the study, is there a significant difference between the self-efficacy of group 1, group 2, and group 3?
