Write a 3-4 pages essay in MLA format which you include The Tapestry of Culture book Chapter 13&14 and also My Life as a Night EIf Priest book chapters which is attached in the files document below. In this essay you need to Compare and contrast the local and global processes that lead to ethnonationalist movements, as these are described in Tapestry (Units 8 and 9), with the processes and interactions between gamers and others in the realm of Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing games (MMORPGs), as described by Bonnie Nardi in her book My Life as a Night Elf Priest. Do we see any similarities in how groups form? Differences? Are there similarities or differences in conduct, actions, behavior, and in the visions of “what the world and its cultures are like” in each case.
A note on My Life as a Night Elf Priest This book is an ethnography. Ethnographies give a picture of all aspects of a culture (in this case, a subculture): behavior, beliefs, group organization, social roles, norms, worldview, art, folklore, and political economy. Nardi describes the members of a group, what they do, the virtual universes they inhabit, and something about what these virtual universes are like (avatars, monsters, etc.). We can use this as data in describing, comparing, and contrasting the virtual worlds, practices and goals of the gamers with what we learn about ethnonationalist movements in Tapestry and in our course materials.
