Why I Want to be a Nurse Essay
As a child, I was often asked who I wanted to become in the future. I always answered, “I want to be a nurse”, and in my essay I will tell you in detail why I still maintain that I want to be a nurse.
In childhood, boys often want to be astronauts and firefighters, and girls most often dream of being doctors, so they play in a children’s hospital. I also answered without hesitation that I would be a nurse. Someone’s desires changed, and after graduation they chose other professions, and I still know that my future profession is a nurse.
After the eleventh grade, I will definitely go to medical school because I want my work to bring not only benefits to people but also pleasure. At the same time, every year, my desire to become a nurse only intensifies. Especially when you get to the hospital, where you understand how indispensable a nurse is. This is an important employee of any medical institution. Not a single day is complete without her, and even at night, a nurse is ready to come to the aid of a mother whose baby is crying or an old man who needs to measure blood pressure or put on an IV.
When you are in the hospital, there is always a lack of warmth, affectionate words. The nurse is more with the sick than the doctor, and she can comfort the sick.
Secondly, want to be a nurse because it will come in handy for me in my life. When I have a family, children, I will be able to provide them with the most basic medical care. I will be able to professionally look after my elderly parents. Yes, while they are young and quite healthy, but whether we like it or not, they will grow old in due time, and diseases will come to them. I was already convinced of this: my paternal grandmother, Daria, died three years ago after a heart attack, although outwardly nothing foreshadowed trouble. If someone in the family had a medical education and provided her with professional assistance, it is quite possible that she would be alive now and rejoice with us in our successes. My second grandmother, Liza, on the maternal side, lives in the district center and has recently suffered from high blood pressure. When she is ill, I have to go to my grandmother to spend the night. And sometimes, in the middle of the night, she gets very bad. I have to wake up my neighbor, Aunt Lucy, and call for help since she is a nurse. Once I learn, I will return to my native area to work as a nurse, and I will help not only my grandmother but all my friends and strangers too.
I believe that being a nurse is one of the noblest professions. She should always be kind and merciful, because the work she is engaged in relieves the suffering of the patient. People always have a special attitude towards medical workers; they value and respect them.
I also think that in the work of a nurse, I am attracted by communication with people. After all, every day I will learn more and more, and I will participate more in their fate, if only because they trusted me with their health and lives. A nurse, in my opinion, is the most interesting, necessary, and important profession. When I feel that I have to do something useful for people, then I understand that someone needs me, which means that I am not living in vain.
Yes, I want to be a nurse. I want to be a person who will be treated not only with medicines, as prescribed by the doctor, but also with kind, gentle words. I understand that it will be difficult, but that those difficulties are compared with words of gratitude. And I will definitely hear them from people whom I have only recently helped fight an illness.
